About

RideMeter records a ride from your phone's GPS and shows what you are actually doing - current speed, distance, moving and total time, climbing, calories - while you ride. Stopping at a light pauses the ride by itself, and starts it again when you move.

Raw GPS speed is noisy, so it is never shown as it arrives. Every sample passes through accuracy gating, an outlier filter that rejects physically impossible acceleration and teleports, and adaptive smoothing that trusts a reading less when the receiver says it is unsure. A new maximum has to hold across several samples before it counts, so one bad fix can never become your top speed.

Everything lives on your device. There is no account to make, no server of ours to send anything to, and no advertising or analytics of any kind.

What leaves your phone

Almost nothing, and only for reasons you can see:

• Apple Weather receives your coordinates so a ride can record the conditions you rode in.
• Apple Maps serves the map imagery your route is drawn on.
• Your own iCloud Drive holds the backup copy of your ride database, if you turn backups on. It is an ordinary file you can see in the Files app - not a sync service, and not ours.
• Files you export yourself go wherever you send them.

That is the complete list. RideMeter has no analytics, no advertising identifier, no crash reporting service and no third-party code of any kind - it is built entirely on Apple's own frameworks.
