By installing or using RideMeter you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
What RideMeter is
RideMeter is a GPS speedometer and ride recorder for iPhone, with an optional Apple Watch companion. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it on devices you own or control. The app and its content remain the property of Unsel Studio.
Accuracy — please read
RideMeter is not a certified measuring instrument. Speed, distance, elevation and every figure derived from them are estimates produced from consumer GPS hardware. Accuracy varies with satellite reception, weather, terrain, tunnels, buildings and the device itself.
The app deliberately filters and smooths the raw signal to avoid reporting impossible values, which means displayed speed can differ from an instantaneous reading. Do not rely on RideMeter where accuracy matters legally or for safety — for example as evidence of the speed you were travelling.
Calories, heart rate and health
Calorie figures are estimates from a physiological model based on your speed, weight, vehicle type and the height you climbed — or, with an Apple Watch, from the watch’s own measurement. Heart-rate zones are derived from an estimated maximum heart rate based on your age and sex.
None of this is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a substitute for professional judgement. Consult a qualified professional before beginning or changing an exercise programme, and stop if you feel unwell.
Safety while riding
Operating a phone while cycling, walking or running is dangerous and may be illegal where you are. Set the app up before you set off. RideMeter records in the background with the screen off precisely so that you do not need to look at it, and its lock-screen card exists for the same reason. You are responsible for riding safely and obeying the law.
Your data is your responsibility
Your rides are stored on your device. Turning on iCloud backup is strongly recommended, but backups are your responsibility: we cannot recover rides lost to a broken, lost or reset device, and we have no copy of them.
No warranty
RideMeter is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unsel Studio is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Changes
These terms may change as the app changes. The current version is always published at this address with its “last updated” date; continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live.
