RideMeter Help & Support

How RideMeter behaves, why it sometimes does what it does, and how to reach a human.

Getting in touch

RideMeter is made by one person. Write to support@unselstudio.app and you will reach the developer directly. Telling me your iPhone model, iOS version and what you were doing when something went wrong makes a fix far more likely.

The speed looks lower than I expected

That is usually the filtering working. Raw GPS speed jumps around, so RideMeter gates each reading on accuracy, rejects physically impossible changes and smooths what is left. A new maximum also has to hold across several readings before it counts, so one bad fix cannot become your top speed. The GPS badge at the top of the ride screen shows how good the current fix is.

My ride paused by itself

That is auto-pause: stopping for a few seconds pauses moving time and distance, and moving again resumes them. Total time keeps running, and the difference shows as Paused. It is separate from pausing yourself, which is for when you step away entirely — that time is excluded from the ride altogether.

The screen went dark mid-ride

Keep screen awake holds the display on only while you are actually riding. Two minutes standing still, or pausing yourself, lets it sleep again — so a ride started indoors to try something out does not sit there lit. The ride keeps recording, and the lock screen keeps showing it.

Weather is not showing

Weather comes from Apple’s WeatherKit and needs a network connection and a GPS fix. If Apple’s service is unavailable the app retries at growing intervals rather than draining your battery, and the ride records normally without it.

Backing up and restoring

Settings → iCloud Backup. With it on, a copy of your ride database is placed in your own iCloud Drive once a day, and the five most recent are kept. Restoring is confirmed first and applied on the next launch; if the backup turns out to be unreadable, your current rides are put back automatically.

Using an Apple Watch

Install RideMeter on the watch from the Watch app on your iPhone. Start the ride on the phone — one press starts the workout on the watch too. The watch then supplies live heart rate, training zones and measured energy, and its Pause, Resume and Finish controls drive the phone. Without a watch nothing is lost: every other feature behaves exactly the same.

The lock screen card

While a ride is recording, the lock screen and Dynamic Island show speed, distance, a moving-time clock and — with a watch — heart rate, and carry a Pause button. There is deliberately no Finish button there: a lock screen gets touched by accident, and ending a ride cannot be undone.

Deleting your data

Delete a ride by swiping it in History, or from the ride’s own screen. Deleting the app removes its database from your device. iCloud backups and files you exported are separate — remove those yourself.
