Who is responsible
RideMeter is developed by Unsel Studio, an independent studio. For any privacy question or request, contact support@unselstudio.app.
What stays on your device
Everything RideMeter records is stored in a database inside the app’s own private storage on your iPhone:
- Your rides: the full GPS track, speed at each point, distance, moving and total time, climbing and descent.
- Derived figures such as maximum speed, averages, calories and the estimated e-bike cutoff.
- Heart rate summaries and training-zone times, when an Apple Watch recorded them.
- The weather conditions a ride was recorded in.
- Your vehicle profiles, and the weight, year of birth and sex you enter for the calorie and heart-rate-zone estimates.
- App settings such as units and whether backups are on.
None of this is transmitted to us. We operate no server that could receive it and have no way to access it.
No accounts, no ads, no tracking
RideMeter has no sign-up and no login. It asks for no name, e-mail address or phone number, and there is nothing to create an account with.
The app contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash-reporting service and no third-party SDKs of any kind. It does not use the advertising identifier and does not ask for tracking permission, because it does not track. It is built entirely on Apple’s own frameworks.
Location
RideMeter needs your location to do its job: it measures speed and distance from GPS. Location is used while you have the app open, and in the background while a ride is recording, so that a ride keeps being measured when the screen is off or you switch apps.
Your coordinates are stored on your device as part of the ride. They are sent off the device only in the two cases described below, and in any file you choose to export.
Apple Weather
So that a ride can record the conditions you rode in, RideMeter asks Apple’s WeatherKit service for the current weather at your position. That request contains your coordinates. Apple’s handling of it is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy. Nothing about your ride — speed, route, history — is included in the request.
Apple Maps
Route maps, share images and flyover videos are drawn on map imagery from Apple Maps (MapKit). Requesting that imagery tells Apple which area is being drawn. The rendering itself happens on your device.
iCloud backup
Backup is a copy of the ride database placed in your own iCloud Drive, in a folder you can open in the Files app. It is an ordinary file, not a sync service: it is stored under your Apple Account, not ours, and we cannot see it. RideMeter does not use CloudKit and keeps no copy of your rides anywhere.
When it is on, a backup is taken at most once a day, and the five most recent are kept. You can turn it off, take one on demand, restore one, or delete them from within the app.
Apple Health and Apple Watch
The optional Apple Watch app records a workout so your ride can include heart rate, training zones and measured energy. It reads those values from HealthKit on the watch and can save the workout to the Health app. Health data stays within Apple’s Health store on your devices; RideMeter does not transmit it anywhere.
So that you do not have to raise your wrist and open the watch app yourself, pressing Start on the iPhone asks Health for permission to start a workout on your paired Apple Watch. That permission is to start a workout, and it is the only reason the iPhone touches Health at all: the phone reads no health data and writes none. Heart rate is measured, held and summarised by the watch. You can refuse the permission, and the app records exactly as before with the watch opened by hand.
If you never use an Apple Watch with RideMeter, no health data is involved at all.
Photos
RideMeter asks for permission to add to your photo library only when you choose to save a ride video. It does not read your photo library.
Files you export
CSV and GPX exports, share images and flyover videos are created only when you ask for them, and contain your route. Once exported they are outside the app’s control — where they go and who can see them is up to you.
Children
RideMeter is a general-audience fitness tool and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Retention and deletion
Your rides stay on your device until you delete them. You can delete a single ride in the app, and deleting the app removes its database. iCloud backups and files you exported are not removed automatically — delete those from iCloud Drive or wherever you saved them.
Your rights (GDPR, KVKK and similar laws)
Because your data never leaves your control, you can exercise access, export, correction and deletion directly in the app: every ride can be viewed, exported as CSV or GPX, and deleted. For questions or requests under regulations such as the GDPR or Turkey’s KVKK, contact support@unselstudio.app.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the app changes — for example if a new feature processes something new. The current version is always published at this address with its “last updated” date.
